Photo taken June 12, 2012 at Ojibway park in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It was about 8pm. Just before this pic, the mother was feeding either seeds or small insects to a baby closer to the ground.

Black-capped Chickadee, and a great image to show the white edging to the secondaries and tertials that helps separate this bird from Carolina Chickadees.
Total birds seen: 370

Agree - great pic of BC chickadee characteristics. The mother was most likely feeding bugs to the baby. Even seed-eating birds feed bugs to babies. I once found a fledgling Carolina chickadee. OMG it was the cutest thing I'd ever seen! It looked like a cartoon drawing of a bird! Luckily, I located the parents and was able to reunite them.

I saw my first chickadee over Memorial Day weekend, though it was a Mountain Chickadee I think, similar in color and shape for sure. The first thought really is 'OMG how cute!' Since I've started birding my eyes are much more open to the feathered friends around me.

Starting a NEW gallery of my better bird shots. Not happy with Flickrs over-busy re-design.
