Hi, My husband and I want to become birders and have started in our own backyard. This bird we are not sure of, we used the identifier and think we are close with a Bohemian Waxwing but we are not sure as it seems Salem, Oregon is a little outside of it's range. The photo was June 13th,2012 at about 7pm. There a pair, one has bright yellow at the tip of the tailfeathers. Please help!Attached File  DSC00137.JPG   475.36K   81 downloads

You are close, but I would call this a Cedar Waxwing.

Yes, cedar waxwing is much more likely. Nice pic! Mine are always skulking in the trees.

Yes, Cedar Waxwing. A Bohemian would be grayer below and would have more pattern in the wings.

You can just see the light yellow breast, making it a Cedar, rather than a Bohemian, Waxwing.

Thank you all! There are two husband and wife that show up at about sunset or just before. They sit with there, backs to me on my fence, they dont eat my sunflower seed or drink from my bird water pond, but it is every day though I love them. My husband is trying to set up the camera to get a closer pic.

Pat I do not know much about birding yet, but I am open to other sites and memberships. Thank you for your answer!
