Late Winter picture. Do have Scaups and if so are they Greater or Lesser? According to my Sibley's they are rare here but I have heard them being seen other places than where the photo was taken. It was taken at Barr Lake State Park, Colorado. Sorry about the picture quality.

I believe lesser scaup The head of the one on the left seems domed to me.

I first thought of greater scaup because of the one in the center top too. Do they run together?

Here on Lake Michigan we often get mixed flocks. I don't remember how often we had Greater Scaup when I was in Fort Collins.

My guess after looking at my Sibley's again is that they are probably Lessers. The Greater are rare here the Lessers are not. Keep hoping Liam will see them and render an opinion :)

I'm leaning towards Lesser on all of the birds in your photo, but we do get Greater Scaup here on the Front Range. All of the Greater Scaup I have seen here have been in the late-March / early-April time-frame.
