Saw all these this morning here in Central Virginia. Help appreciated.

1. Is this a female Baltimore Oriole by chance?

2. A juvenile Starling or something else?
Posted Image

3. Chirping sparrow?

4. Seemed bigger than a sparrow, but it was high on a branch and I can't be sure.

Thanks! A bird I'd never heard of..I always like that. :D
I hope to get a better shot of him/her, if it sticks around.

Prothonotary Warbler was my first thought on #1 (my hard-sought, way-out-of-range, lifer yesterday), but aren't the red eyes a little odd? Or is that photographic "red eye"?

There is no doubt that that's a prothonotary - one of my most-wanted birds! The red eye must be photographic red-eye. Or the bird is possessed by the devil.

  • That warbler is absolutely stunning.
  • I love listening to the Chipping Sparrow song. It sounds like a ringtone gone mad.
