Here are a bunch of lifers for confirmation, seen this weekend in the San Bernardino mountains in So Cal.

I can confirm all but I think the last one is a cassins finch

#5 looks like a Flycatcher, possibly Gray Flycatcher.
#8 appears to be a Cassin's Finch.

The others look good.

Hmm, yes I do think you both are correct with Cassin's. I kind of thought that, but with the group they only called out Purple, so I just went along with that.

Let's try this one for a possible Purple Finch?

Nice group of birds there for Southern Cal, Guy. I would call that last one Purple Finch.

Thanks creeker. Yeah, they were some really great birds to get. I went with the local Audubon group, and being with the group really helped. Most of the locations were pretty obscure and hard to get to. Really wish I could have gotten a better shot of the Gray Vireo, but we were able to confirm it by call.

Other good bird we got, but I couldn't photograph, was the Mexican Whip-poor-will.

The Black Tern was also a surprise, since it is unexpected at this date.

5 looks to be a Dusky flycatcher for me. The are in the mountains in this time of the year in So Cal.
