Southeast Texas Marsh Birds

I took pictures of two birds that I could not identify and am hoping someone could help me. The habitat was a lake in southeast Texas in the early summer. The two birds are in the same attached picture. Thanks,

Both are Green Herons.

Thanks, I didn't think to check for the color green since they both looked so blue gray...

Green herons have never struck me as being very green. The names of birds are often misleading. It's best not to rely on the bird's name for your ID - the ring around a ring-necked duck's neck is nearly invisible, the red on a red-bellied woodbecker's belly is seldom seen, and hairy woodpeckers are not hairy!
