This sparrow was singing in mesquite wooded grassland at 4200ft ASL at Ruby, AZ on 17 June. I was only able to get this snapshot thru a screen window. Note strong malar striping, white throat, pale supercilium, pale-edged outer tail feathers. Again, field guides and your search function haven't given me a convincing result. Any ideas?

As a guess, Rufous-crowned.

Guess you're right - I failed to see the crown. They are present in that area. Thanks!
