Taken mid June 2012, early morning, northern Iowa. Probably 50% larger than a Robin, saw only once, was able to get these two photos of the same bird. There were 3 of them together on the ground.

I have attached a better/ larger version of the head shot. The blue eye really caught my attention in the photo, as did the blue head from a distance. Photo taken from about 100' away.

Looks like a partially leucistic Common Grackle.

Yes, that seems spot on. I had never seen one before. I'll keep watching for it and try to get better photos.
