Two hawks

Im hoping to get some help on both these hawks, the second one is a terrible picture, but I think I was so excited I couldnt stand still! Both were seen in CT over the winter. Thank you for your help!

I think the 1st is a Red shoulder Hawk and 2nd is a Sharp-shinned Hawk a feamale based the face streaking

I agree with Red-shouldered on the first -- the second one appears to be a juvenile Cooper's, based on the clean streaking below and the shorter outer tail feathers just visible in the photo.

Agree with both of these IDs. Based on the fence size, it also looks a bit too large for a Sharpie.

Coop's and Sharpies will always cause confusion -- don't sweat it. ;)

Thats why I didnt want to throw a guess out there on them because I was pretty sure I was wrong! Love hawks, BUT I have to study them more though!! :rolleyes:
