Help ID bird in So Cal-Canyon Towhee?

Hi!
I think this bird is a California Towhee but the bird call is a little different than the one found on the site. THanks!

You got it! Calls can be variable sometimes (especially between regions) and don't always fit recordings you find online.

What I generally hear from these guys is a loud metallic "CHINK!"

These guys drove me bonkers for a while. Would always hear that high pitched call and never see the bird!
