Just a little more help needed.... girls day out. Taken at Big Morongo Preserve in So Cal.

Agree with the rest, but I think your woodpecker might be a Nuttall's. Not sure on that though. Those two are tough for me.

Yeah, Nuttall's and Ladder-backed can be hard to differentiate. What makes this even more difficult is that Big Morongo has both, as well as hybrids. I'd wager this one more closely resembles a Nuttall's, but it could very well be a hybrid.

I'm glad birding is so easy... LOL :D So she gets to remain a mostly 'maybe'?

There's some pretty sharp eyes on here. Wait until morning when some of the others chime in. So far, looks like Guy and I are seeing Nuttall's.
