This is probably an every day bird for y'all but I haven't a clue.

Mountain Chickadee?

Warbler... of some kind.... maybe.... The bird was on the other side of the valley sitting on the stump. The only pic I got and the only time I saw it. :(

Taken at Lemon Dam in Southwestern Colorado elevation 8,148 ft. on 7/6/12

The first two shots are a male Western Tanager. The next two are Mountain Chickadee, and the last one appears to be a female Western Tanager.

I also got some pics of a Thunderbird. (kidding) But I have no idea what this was that flew over me and I got three quick shots....and of course my Sigma lens was fighting with my Canon camera and it refused to focus.

I wonder if I can start a Thunderbird rumor? :P

I was just sitting in my little portable chair under a tree overlooking the valley and it landed on a branch not far from me. I nearly fell over trying to get my glasses on and the camera focused. Two shots and it was gone. Sorry for wandering around your backyard but I needed some mountain air. Traffic was INSANE this morning in Durango.

I saw my first Western Tanager this last weekend too! Congrats!

Thanks! I didn't even know what it was. How sad is that? LOL

I got a boat load of chipping sparrows too. They're as bad as house finches. I even had one give me a dirty look when I was watching it clean itself. It's expression distinctly said, "do you mind?"

lemon resevoir is an ideal place to go this time of year lots of birds and good fishing and cool up under the pine trees. there have been sighting lots of woodpeckers and song birds around on the backside of the lake.

Your "Thunderbird" looks more like a Phoenix to me. :)

Actually, it looks like an Osprey. Was there a lake or river nearby?

Edit: Sorry I did not see the mention of the reservoir until I read DKLucius's post.

Juvenile Brewer's Sparrow -- on a juvenile Chipping, the lores would be dark.
