Yellow Bird ID in Massachusetts

Hey, guys! I'm at a loss on bird id's right now. I'm in Boston, Massachusetts this summer, and am unfamiliar with a lot of the birds! I found this bird (about sparrow-sized) on Peddocks Island in Boston Harbor.

I've got a couple more pictures that I unfortunately can't upload, but it looks like it's got the thick bill of a finch, black on top and yellow on bottom. Its chest is totally yellow, and it has a duskier yellow on the back that's not quite olive, and olive/brown wingtips and tail feathers that are outlined in bright yellow.

I originally thought it was a yellow warbler, but the beak is all wrong for it, so I'm not sure what I'm seeing unless someone let a saffron finch loose...

Agree, definitely NOT a yellow warbler. I can buy that as a Saffron Finch.

What would a Saffron finch be doing there? Probably a escapee.

Yes, a Saffron Finch. There is a market for Saffron Finches, so it is almost definite that this bird is feral.

Sad...I saw them in Hawaii. I would not think they would survive our winters here and it will not know to migrate.

Thanks, guys. I had come to the same conclusion and thought I must be crazy. The worst part was there were 3 of them; hopefully they can survive or find their way somewhere safe..

Even worse, I hear they are being brought here to fight..."Finch Fights" like the old cock fights. Illegal, cruel, disgusting, and growing.
