We are in Conroe (Houston) Texas.
This little one was on the shrubs outside my office door.
It stayed for about 4 days. It made LOTS of noise, but we never saw any parent bird
It always looked healthy so we did not bother him.
Would love to know what we watched and are now missing :)

The spotting and bill shape suggest it's an American Robin, possibly force-fledged.

I'd say it's a northern mockingbird.

Definitely a Northern Mockingbird fledgling. A robin would be darker on the back, with minimal wingbars and more spotting.

If a potential predator gets too close to the nest when young birds are within a few days of leaving on their own, they'll jump out and run as best they can. You see it sometimes when doing nest-searches.
