Where in southern AZ? From what my (antiquated) guide can tell me, I'd say either Tarahumara frog (in the Pajaritos and Santa Ritas) or Ramsey Canyon Leopard Frog (in the Huachucas). In the Chiricauhuas, I'd have to keep looking.

This photo was taken at Beaties Ranch, a fairly well known Hummingbird Resort in Miller Canyon, About 10 miles south of Sierra Vista Az and high on the Canyon Road.
Now that we have forums to get technical, I have no idea what this frog is, I just assumed this is a Bull Frog and left it at that. Surly this frog looks differently from The OP's frog.

This is a Ramsey Canyon Leopard Frog, then. Very cool - apparently they're the only frog known to call underwater!
You can tell it's not a Bullfrog because of the ridge running down the side of the back -- Bullfrogs don't have those.

So, I thought this was a bullfrog but is it a green frog? Taken in southern NY in late June.

This is a Bullfrog -- a Green Frog would have a dorsolateral fold running from near the ear back nearly to the hind legs.

Hey, anyone care to speculate how that frog in the first post (amazing picture btw!) got those scratches between its eyes? I really know nothing about frog skin or how it heals but to me it looks like he had a run in with a small rodent or mammal with claws and is sporting scars.
