Shorebird challenge

Saw this bird this morning in San Diego, CA. There is a presumed ID by the local experts, but thought it would be interesting to see what others think.

Eegh, I probably shouldn't even be trying on vagrant shorebirds, but did they happen to suggest Great Knot?

Get my lifelist to 300 (currently 293)
Finally get Mountain Quail and Vesper Sparrow
Top my previous single year best (2011-253) I'm at 193 as of 5/12.

That is much better than I would have done on my own. Great Knot is definitely a major consideration.

Great Knot seems to have too long of a bill... am I crazy to think Red Knot??........

A surfknot would be awesome! The bill was the one part that was bothering me, it seems pretty short and thin on this bird. How cool is that?! I would love to hear more about this one.
