Last summer, I got some photos of juvenile Common Terns in late July and early August. Although the birds were fully grown and fledged, they relied on their parents to feed them.
These Least Terns were probably fledged in the last couple of weeks and yet, unlike the Common Terns I observed last year, they are flying out into the ocean and fending for themselves. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior and the difference in the rearing/maturing of Common and Least Terns.
