OK hate is a strong word. They are just such dull looking birds, and the differences between species are just so subtle that I lose interest pretty quickly. Same thing with gulls.

Anyway I saw this one a week or so ago. Not sure if this is a Peewee or an Empid of some sort. I appreciate any help and would really like to know why it is what it is.

Yikes. Rich, please post this to IBF. It looks like a Pewee, but the bill's rather long and the tail's awfully long -- I don't suppose you heard it call?

Nope, did not hear it call. The bill and tail where what was giving me pause. I'll go post it over there.

It looks fine for Pewee to me, I think the focus and DOF is throwing the perspective off a bit, making the proportions look awkward.

I agree with the annoyance at flycatchers. I would add shorebirds and non-breeding plumage ducks.

I agree on the ducks, but for some reason I LOVE shorebirds. Fall warblers can be a ***** too.
