Vesper Sparrow?

I need assistance identifying a bird that repeatedly came to our deck while visiting the Lake of the Ozark southwest of Saint Louis, MO.

It had a white tail with black center that was visible only during flight.

Rather, a juvenile Eastern Towhee. The long, black tail gives it away. Welcome to Whatbird!

This is a juvenile Eastern Towhee.

I am sure you have many requests for identification.

The juvenille plumage got me. I can see it now that you mention it. There were a number of young birds then and they were very aggressive with other birds during feeding.
