Of course it would be great if it is something other than a house finch...
What I have learned so far.... just because you think that bird is just another _____ (house sparrow, chickadee, crow or whatever you are used to seeing) look a little closer... you just might be surprised!

Thank you Creeker! Was hoping for a purple finch on this trip, but I guess I will get one eventually! And my biggest fear is that I WILL see one but think it is just another house finch and not pay any attention! SO probably when I stop TRYING to see one, is when I will see one!

The only places I see them are in the mountains here. Took me three dedicated trips and about 20 miles total of hiking to spot my first Purple Finch.
