Outside the usual offering of Canada Goose, the big fat white 'generic' geese (no clue what they're called) they had these guys in the park. What are they? They a mixed breed?

Ah, the 'decorative imports'?

How about the big fat white ones (the ones that look like over-sized ducks)? Regular flat orange bill, big orange feet, loud honk.

Keep in mind that "breeds" refers to a domestic varieties within a species, created by selective breeding by man. So a mixed breed would be a domestic bird that was a mix of several breeds. A hybrid is a cross of 2 species - very different from breeds.

Pic 1 is a Brown Chinese Goose and Pic 2 is a Brown African Goose. Both breeds have a white variety. Embden Geese are a different species, but area also big and white. Pilgrim Geese ganders resemble Embdens, but have blue eyes.

For the big white ones we have, didn't get to see the eye colors.

And dang, geese are confusing....considering I thought the pictures I posted were of the same one (thought it had just jumped in the water when I wasn't looking).
