Wanting to confirm this is a green heron? suprised me when i came around the corner "screaming" and i was so amazed by the sound it was making i forgot to get ready for the shots, so no great photos, but is this a green heron or some type or bittern? and the duck below i can not figure out? Thanks!

Green Heron confirmed, a juvenile.
Your duck is a Hooded Merganser - head and bill shape are fairly unique. Not sure on age/sex.
