Who is this butterfly catcher?

This little guy caught and ate a butterfly but my bad exposure makes it hard to tell what type of bird this is. May not be able to but thought I would give it a try - seen last weekend at Catalina Island (off coast of CA)

It's probably ash-throated flycatcher unless I'm missing something.

I agree with Ash-throated Flycatcher. Brown-crested is out of range, I think.

Myiarchus have a thing for butterflies and dragonflies.

Thank you both- I was surprised to see him eat that butterfly - it was so big!

We get a bumper crop of caterpillars (and butterflies) around here from September-December; the cuckoos and bluebirds love them. It's funny to watch bluebirds beating the caterpillars to death on the branches before eating them. I guess if you're the size of a bluebird, a caterpillar is a pretty impressive prey!
