I agree, these are Glaucous-winged. Glaucous would have white wingtips, Kittiwakes or any of the other large gulls would have distinct black tips to the wings.

Were these pictures taken in Kenai Fjords?I have shots of Kittiwakes just havent processed them as of yet, we went to a rookery full of them .

Those are some awesome pics, jtee2. Reminds me of the time I went fishing out of Monterey and had a young Gray Whale come up about 10 feet off the port side, right in front of me. That was one of my favorite fishing experiences of all time.

Thank you much. Believe me its not easy swinging around a 500MM lens on a boat that is swaying side to side and up and down at the same time . I got my workout that day for sure

For sure! I was on the back of the boat with both hands on the camera getting whale shots and realized that I was the only one not holding on with TWO hands.Yes indeed at the Fjords out of Seward
