Among a dozen or so Violet-green Swallows, perched on a wire, were three I couldn't identify. Lower left might be a Barn Swallow (?), but I can't figure out the top 2. One of the Violet-greens is at the lower right for comparison. Sorry about the poor quality-- they were 60ft up or so.

Lower left is a Northern Rough-Winged Swallow. Top two- juvenile Violet-greens? or juvenile Tree Swallows? or maybe Bank swallows or more Rough-wingeds? I can't tell.

With the amount of white showing below the eye on the three juveniles I'd say they were also Violet-greens.

OK. What's with the white 'collar' and the coloring on the upper breast? I haven't seen markings like that on swallows before.

Looks like it's probably caused by out of place feathers.

Agree, all look like Violet-Greens based on the pale auriculars.

I'll take your word(s) for it. 
But how can I make these distinctions myself in the future? When I do a search for juvenile Violet-green Swallow, not a single image looks anything like the 2 birds at the top. And the ears don't look that pale to me. I'm useless!
