I apoligize for this non-bird post but internet search and several guides have failed me. Taken in the summer in western NY state, not even sure if it's a toad or a frog. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Also, if you have any suggestions for a good insect and/or reptile & amphibian guide, would appreciate it.

I don't know what it is, but there are forums for just about any North American animal that you can see. . . might be good to post it there.

Thanks for the help! I'd tried googling frogs & toads but didn't have a lot of luck.

Great Shot! I can understand your confusion...sure looks toadlike, doesn't he...even down to the warts. Like a toad with tree frog fingers...Love the photo! Very well done macro shot...check out those eyes!

Cool pic. I have strayed from time to time while looking for the birds when they don't seem to want to participate.

Thanks Bigfoot, found this forum by accident today! (was typing in my name on the sign in & it somehow jumped down to "Mammals". Good to know!
