When I first saw it, and took the first pic, it did not look like a dove to me at all. By the third shot, it looked very much like a dove, but not one of our normal doves. This looks nothing like the Mourning Doves and Eurasian Collared Doves that I am used to seeing. Alternate plumage? Crossbreed? Something else?

I seem to really be flying my "Newbie" flag at high staff. I thought I could tell a Mourning Dove when I saw one. The colors seemed so off to me, much too dark, white whisker on the right cheek, buff on the left,where there usually is a black curve, none of the normal spotting on the wings I am used to seeing, and the two dark spots at the end of the wing feathers where they are usually plain really looked odd.
