Shore Bird

I saw this bird while on a whale watch about 3 miles off the coast of Provincetown, MA recently. There were about 25 humpbacks feeding in the area ..... and countless birds to share in the bounty!

Not a shorebird, but a shearwater, I believe. Greater shearwater, I think.

It seems like it is a Juvenile Greater Shearwater. But I usually am wrong.

Looks nearly identical to the pic of an adult in my Sibley's - there's not even a pic of a juvenile. Usually yhat means it's because the plumage is the same. However, I'm not really experienced with shearwaters.

Greater Shearwater.... but it's an adult.

Agree with Greater Shearwater for this offshore bird.

Thanks to all who replied. Shearwaters were probably the only few pages in my Sibley's I didn't check before posting....of course!
