The lack of black spots on the tail has me leaning towards Hairy, as well, but I wouldn't want to say for sure either way unless I could see the face. :)

Im leaning towards downy, if it was taken in CT we have tons of downy, and the amout of white on the bird points again to downy for me, but a pic of the bill would really help! (im nooooooo expert so take these words as you will!!)

The black bars on the tail are not always visible. Anyways, I agree with Downy Woodpecker.

Not much to go on with this guy (no view of the bill, shoulder, or clear view of the retrices), but the GISS is pointing to a Downy for me. Don't think this one can be nailed down without another angle, though.

Based on what I'm seeing in the shot at the block cage, I would say Downy. I have the same size cages at my house and it's about 5" in size. Based on the size of the cage it's a match for Downy (6 1/2") compared to a Hairy (9").

Downy for sure! That shot clinches it for me. Somewhere recently on the forum someone posted a shot of a hairy and then a downy on that same type of feeder. It made the difference between the two very apparent. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit-Found it! It was this thread: http://www.whatbird....__fromsearch__1
