I am not an avid bird watcher but since moving to baja from los angeles I have seen so many birds I have never seen before. just from my deck I seen in my eucalyptus tree a 18' tall owl, hooded orioles, and black throated magpie-jays. The jays I indentified with this forums help. So I am back. sorry no pics but by time I got my camera......... you know the rest.
It looked very similar to the hooded oriole but had a yellow chest and the body and wings were speckeled yellow and black in no discernable pattern that I could see. It was high in the tree and I couldn't get a good look at it's head.

Thanks for your help

ps the magpie-jays are just magnificent in flight

Try an immature Scott's Oriole.

I love the Baja license plate!
