I have seen the Eastern Kingbirds migrate through here for several seasons. I have been seeing a few warblers arriving and wondered when the Kingbirds might show up. When they come through it seems like they take over the forest. There is one perched on parctically every palm tree around the marina. Today I saw the first of this season. They perched way up high as usual and I thought--there they are! I got my bins on them and couldn't see any white tips to the tails (well a tiny hint) Usually I see a very apparent band. All my guides show that even immatures have white.
I'm sure these must be EK, but would appreciate some feed back about the lack of obvious white tail tips. The first photo is cropped like crazy cause the bird is way up there and I had white-gray skies. the second is one without crop, but zoomed to the max on my Sony superzoom.
