I have seen these birds at my feeder with American Goldfinch and thought they may be juvenile goldfinches. Then I noticed the streaking and thought they may be pine siskins. Are they siskins? They were seen today in Olympia, WA.

Yep, Pine Siskins. The extensive yellow on the wing and tiny, sharp bills are good marks for them.

the last two years have had big surges in numbers of pine siskins. spring and summer 20 to 30 at a time and fall and winter 3 different flocks of 20 or more coming and going. they love the thistle or small millet and sunflower seed and even eating the seeds off the flowers and grass and weeds.

Thanks for the replies. I did think they were goldfinches because of the yellow on their wings. That is a new lifer for me.
