Here are four duck shots from August 31st that I need IDs for. My tentative IDs for all of these are Blue-winged Teal but 1 and 2 might be Cinnamon Teal. I am less sure of 3 and 4 because they lack the white around the eyes that can be seen in 1. Another thing that causes doubt is that these don't show as much white at the base of the bill as I expect to see.

1. Blue-winged Teal based on white around eyes and large bill

2. Blue-winged Teal but Cinnamon Teal also have blue wings

3. Blue-winged Teal?

Thanks again, everyone. Have a great Labor Day. :)

The closest bird in the foreground of pic three looks more like a Cinnamon (plainer face and slightly reddish color, which could just be the lighting). The rest all appear to be Blue-winged.

Life List: 586

Latest birds: Northern Goshawk, Greater Sage-grouse, Sage Sparrow

2013: 446 species

Thanks, Parula and BillyP. So I wasn't completely on the wrong track. I did notice the reddish color on that one bird. I have read that Cinnamon and Blue-winged often hang out together so it shouldn't be too surprising to have both in the same shot. It does make for long photo names though. :)

Considering bill size, I'd say all birds except for the last one are Cinnamon Teal.

Liam, I can see your point. The last bird does seem to have the shortest bill of the bunch. Anyone else want to chime in? At this juncture we are far from a consensus, not that we have to have one. :)

Thanks, everyone. No consensus, but I can live with that. :)
