Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge 9/8/12

Any chance of telling what these guys are. My camera was messing up and by the time I got it working they had flown off.

For some reason, the wing shape of the one on the left reminds me of a cormorant, but I am not sure at all.

They were both the same and even though I was fighting my camera when they were 15 feet in front of me (grrr that would have been a great shot) I was not getting a Cormorant vib. These were some kind of duck. I could be Mallards or Blue Winged Teals which there was a lot of, but you never know what you might find outside of the list (list being the refuge list of sighting for that day).

EDIT: But then again, I was struggling with my camera and was seeing them from the back.

I think if it was a cormorant, the bill on the bird on the right would've been visible... nevermind me saying that.
