While on this topic, I thought I'd mention something I stumbled on that can be helpful when you wish to compare vocalizations. If you select "Browse by Taxonomy" at Cornell's All About Birds site, you're directed to this page:
http://www.allaboutb...browse_tax.aspx
From which you can select a certain taxon, and get to a page that has sound files of similar birds on the same page. Some examples:
Some owls:
http://www.allaboutb.../browse_tax/55/
Some Tyrannids:
http://www.allaboutb.../browse_tax/65/
This is NOT all-inclusive, but often handy if you know you're trying to separate out related spp by call. (Note also that there are often longer and/or numerous sound files at the individual species entries, if you need to hear more.)
