AZ just SE of Phoenix at Gilbert Water Ranch in early Sept.

This is a Peach-faced (or Rose-faced) Lovebird. Agapornis roseicollis. Small wild flock. Native to subdeserts of Namibia to north Cape Province Africa.

QUESTION: This bird is in Clements list & Sibley's book - but should I count it in my photo life list? All ideas are welcome.

Depends on whether or not you follow the ABA checklist. This species isn't included on the list, so if you follow the ABA's checklist, it wouldn't be considered.

Personally, I would count it. It's an introduced species, but it has a stable population living in the wild. Same principle as starlings and House Sparrows.

Thanks again. I will count it. When I started I decided to follow Clements list & my "gut feeling". Both said YES!

This is bird I've added to MY lifelist, although officially it is not countable by ABA guidelines. Rosy-faced Lovebirds are firmly established in the Phoenix area. Probably only a matter of time until they are officially recognized like other introduced species have been.

Latest lifers: Black Scoter, Sinaloa Wren, Nutting's Flycatcher, Virginia's Warbler, Black-headed Gull, Red-throated Pipit, 23 in Texas!

Trip reports: Costa Rica 3/2014, Texas 12/2013, Central CA 8/2013, Arizona 6/2013, Midwest 5/2013, Hawaii 2/2013, Florida 9-10/2012, Monterey 8/2012, Salton Sea 7/2012, SE AZ 6/2012, Chicago 5/2012, Arizona 3/12, Arizona 12/11, Chicago 9/2011, Monterey 8/11, Arizona 12/10
