First the background. I was driving by a creek and noticed a group of wild turkeys in the pasture along the creek. As I slowed, a hawk took flight from near the creek about 30 yards from the road. As I looked back to where he flew from, there was a Great Egret. I turned around about a half a mile up the road to go back. I found the Great Egret about25 feet up a tree in the pasture. I then noticed the hawk higher up in the tree. (See 1st pict below.) The hawk looks like it is covering prey. The egret flew away and I tried several picture (none any good) then I saw the hawk was gone. I saw a "dark spot" in a tree about 200 yards or more away, but did not have binocs, so I photographed anyway. When I zoomed into the photo, it looks like the same hawk to me still covering the prey. My guess is the hawk stole a fish from the egret along the creek when I first drove up. Any thoughts on the hawk ID?
