Taken just outside of Philadelphia in Southern NJ on 9-19-12

1. I think this is a Northern Parula, just wanted to confirm.

2. This one I'm not so sure of but my best guess is a female Magnolia Warbler?

But then you remember being able to bird in 80 degree weather in January, and don't feel so bad! B)

Yeah, I was trying to not rub it in their face, but since we've opened that door... We actually have good birding here year round. Even the summer can be good here, especially in the mountains. In San Diego you have good weather all year. In the inland here we can get up to 110 in the summer, and the winters can be quite cold in the morning. I remember it being in the 20s while looking for Short-eared Owls and the Gyrfalcon last winter (at the same location)...oops, still sort of rubbing in the good CA birding!

Well now that I've experienced California, I'm eternally envious of y'all who live there.

I'm moving there as soon as I've seen my Cerulean Warbler.

You may me jealous of a few eastern warblers, but we're jealous of your sapsuckers, thrashers, hummingbirds, magpies, grouse, gulls, dippers, nutcrackers, gnatcatchers, towhees, vireos, wrens, murrelets, kingbirds, etc. ;)

I really don't mind the cold weather birding, I do like the full range of seasons we get here in southern NJ and variety of birds that brings. That being said I can't say I would complain about the nice weather year round.

If I get the urge to cold weather bird, we do get snow in the mountains here at least a few times a year. You can then drive down the hill to the warm weather again. Sometimes only 20 minutes apart. I did freeze last winter when I went after a Common Redpoll here in the local mountains (got it!)
