Help ID So Cal Sana Monica Mtns

Swift..... Not sure if black is in range but that's what it looks like.

Either Chimney or Vaux's, in California they would be Vaux's. Black are darker overall with a forked tail (and quite difficult birds to see).

Looks like Vaux's to me, with that short, spiky tail and brown throat.

I agree with Vaux's Swift. We get the occasional Black Swift here. They usually come singly or in pairs. Vaux's pile up into the hundreds.
