Pretty sure on this one, yellow throat immature male

Sorry,no photo for this one. This warbler was size and shape of a magnolia warbler, gray/green on back and head but the only yellow was a light wash on the flanks, full eye ring and the lores were yellow. Any ideas? I have one bird in mind as a possibility but would appreciate any thoughts .

Young male Common Yellowthroat confirmed!

Can't help on the other one, I'd need to go all the way upstairs and get my guide...

The "other one" doesn't have a photo, it was just a description, but I do agree with Tenny for that one!

My guess on your mystery bird is a non-breeding Chestnut-sided based on the eyering, green nape and back, and color on the flanks but I'm not sure anything I can think of matches that description perfectly (specifically the lores)

I agree, in certain lighting Chestnut-sided can appear to have yellowish lores due to the cap.

chesnut-sided is a pretty good fit but the "sides" on the bird I saw seemed yellow as opposed to chestnut colored. Female or first year pine is close except for the split eye ring as opposed to a full ring. Crossley says pine warblers can be "variably colored" and confusing.

Are we talking about this bird? http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/

If so, I think it's an Orange-crowned Warbler

Jimmy, as I *ahem* already explained, that's not the bird we are talking about. Although now that you mention it, I'm curious whether it's a Tennessee or Orange-crowned. Still gonna guess Tennessee, personally.

Yes, I think the bird in the photo JimBob referenced is a TN warbler. I have another shot showing a white under-tail which would rule out orange crowned. and yes the bird I was talking about in the original post has no photo.

I think I know the mystery bird. I couldn't ID it because I kept looking through the "warbler" part of the guides. I saw the picture tonight on a post. It was a blue headed vireo.
