maybe not good enough to tell, only shot I got from the kayak, taking pics of birds along the shore.. I got a decent look and saw no spot on its chest, but song sparrows were around as well.. not a lifer but I don't see them very often

The clean gray nape and fine streaking say Lincoln's to me.

Yeah, I'm curious how y'all ruled out Swamp.
ETA:. I should expand. The reason I ask is because Swamp was my initial reaction. This bird doesn't really have the heavy, fine streaking I associate with Lincoln's. It could just be underexposure, but as Indybirder noted, it does appear dark. I do see how one could rule out Song, but I don't really see anything that would rule out Swamp.

Definitely not 100% on this guy, but I thought I could see the distinct, buffy breast band contrasting with the gray lower breast/belly. It's pretty shadowy, so I wasn't putting much stock in overall color.

FWIW, I immediately thought Swamp as well.

The flank streaking seems a bit distinct for a Swamp Sparrow, as does the streaking at the shoulder, and I can see a hint of an eye-ring.
