I took this picture today, September 30th 2012. This is the first time I have seen this bird at my feeders (black sunflower seeds). Location: Newnan, Georgia - south of Atlanta. Black and white with brown specs on tail. Brown nape and crown. Red throat and breast.I am new to bird identification and would appreciate the help. Thanks!

OK thanks - it was confusing to me because the book I have the male looks black, white and red - no brown.

They are when breeding. They change in the winter, but also don't reach the full breeding colors the first year or so.
