I know the one is an adult Chipping sparrow, but the other I cannot tell if it is an immature Chipping or maybe a house sparrow.

If they are both Chippings, why in the world are they fighting? Shouldn't they be reserving their energy for going south? Crazy birds.

Agreed, both are Chipping. Must just have some pent-up aggression...

For most spp at my feeders, intraspecific competition is much more pronounced than interspecies.

Thanks for the replies. I thought a younger Chipping but with the lighting in these pictures, I couldn't rule out HOSP.
