I received a catalog from the "Audubon Workshop", a place in Lawrenceburg, IN, that has some wonderful bird goodies, but on page 16, they show a Woodpecker that they've labeled a "Downy Woodpecker". It has a bill almost as long as its head. Doesn't look like a Downy to me, but before I make a fuss with those folks, does anyone else have that catalog and can anyone give me more information before I make a fool of myself?
Thanks, Julie

Perhaps you can find the same picture at their online site, so we can see it?
I once notified Duncraft of a real mislabeling gaffe, and this was in one of their blog entries. I forget exactly what it was, but it was egregious. Something like calling a Black Phoebe a Junco...

OOOH, that was a mistake. I went to their online website and saw all kinds of stuff on sale, but no photo of the Downy/Hairy...

Ha ha! I've done that, too. Well, at Duncraft's site, anyway.
Chances are very good you're right, with a bill like what you describe.
