Is this duck a BW Teal? Looks like it has clean white stripe behind the bill. Picture taken near Mountain View, CA by fellow Whatbirder Snick on an outing a few days ago.

That's great. We thought we saw a couple and then couldn't find any in the pictures. This is super crop of a picture with about fifty other birds in it. It's a lifer for both Snick and I. Thanks for the help.

What eliminates Northern Shoveler here? During this time of the year, the males have the crescent in front of the eye as well (may just be me, but the eye looks yellowish), plus that bill looks a bit large for BWTE. In addition, I see a shoveler to the right of the Godwit and a large flock in the next photo in the OP's flickr.

jblakelock, do you have another photo of this bird? Or a wider angle on this shot?

I agree with Liam, it looks good for Northern Shoveler.

Oops, Liams right. I should have at least noticed the orange foot!

Here's the only other shot we have. There were lots of Shovelers around.

Ok. Thanks for all the help on this and especially to Liam for catching that this was a Shoveler. I guess I'll have to wait on Blue-winged Teal.
