I was headed out the door to get gas, and a new yard bird popped by my feeder! I unfortunately couldn't get a photo of it, couldn't reach my camera in time, but still hoping for some help.

It wasn't fluffy and is a very mustard yellow, with black wings and yellow wing stripes, the same color as the feathers. I thought maybe a gold finch, but it doesn't have that thicker beak that the other finches I saw has.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a female or basic-plumaged Goldfinch to me. Goldfinches' beaks are smaller, more petite, than most other finches.

Hmm okay. I'll just assume goldfinch, and see if maybe it comes back later and can get a pic of it. Thanks!
