Seems obvious but would be a lifer, on Sheppard AFB TX. Golden-crowned Kinglet. Saw several birds all the the 1000 Watt yellow on the head. Didn't see any with the orange with yellow edges (male). Showed two wing bars. Does the male always have the orange or only during breeding plumage??? Again took about 25 pictures to get two decent ones, a Kinglet trait.

For sure. Congrats!
I don't know the answer to your question for sure but the ones I've seen this fall haven't had any visible orange.

I would say you have a male Golden-crowned in the picture by how black the crown is. Female will be duller. The orange-yellow is usually covered up ( just like in a Ruby-crowned Kinglet or an Orange-crowned Warbler) by the yellow feathers.
