Hello again!

Here are the couple sparrows I would like confirmation on as well as two birds I really am not sure about. These were all taken near Curtis Creek in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on 10.16.12.

#1 Lincoln Sparrow (thin stripes and teeny tiny black streaks in the rufous parts of the face)
Posted Image

#2 Swamp Sparrow (looks like a Song but without any belly stripes and it has a ton of tan on the flanks)
Posted Image

#3 Swamp Sparrow (looks kind of different from #2, but I think they are both SWSP)
Posted Image

#4 Never showed its belly or flanks so strip info is out. I think this is a Song Sparrow but I can see reasons why it could be something else as well.
Posted Image

#5 Song Sparrow
Posted Image

#6 Song Sparrow (seems to be missing streaking on the flanks, but SWSP are not supposed to have much black in the crown stripes)
Posted Image

# Extra Credit... No clue but American Goldfinch, but I don't think that's it.

Phew. Thanks!

Benjamin

Sorry, forgot one. Same time and place as above. This is a Field Sparrow, no? This guy is amazing looking! Blows the Stokes Field Sparrows away.

All your sparrows confirmed except for 6, which looks like a Swamp. Song's stripe are usually more reddish.

I'm commenting just to say that your puns are incredible!

I do agree with Liam, though I'm with Joe, 1 looks Swamp-ish to this inexperienced birder.

The streaking on the flanks of Swamp is usually somewhat blurred, these streaks look quite crisp to me. Plus, head shape and coloration fit Lincoln's very well.

Definitely a Swamp Sparrow.

Yup, appears my suspicions were correct. Those second shots definitely helped, and I know Liam would agree with Swamp now.

Okay, looks better for Swamp here. Great example of how a bird can so closely resemble different species in different photos.

Ok, so be it. Thank you all very much. 5 for 7 means I get a 71% on Maryland October Sparrows. And considering the 30 some other Sparrows that I didn't post, I have another 5 or so wrong ones... But everything else was either a solid Song or White-throated so hopefully I didn't botch that too much. Oh well, thank you all very much, I can sleep easily now!

No. 5 kinda looks like a Lincoln's to me. Fine breast streaking and the light brown color under the streaking. Or maybe something else. I'm not familiar with eastern sparrows.
