At a small lake near Iowa Park TX today, I saw two gulls. One stayed on the water the entire time while the other was flying around, occasionally diving into water. The flyer seemed larger but hard to tell because they were never exactly together. 4 pictues:
1st two gulls

2nd same shot with the floating bird blown up. Notice long black primaries, and dark ear spot...thinking Bonapart's Gull

Two other shots of the flyer. Can't tell if bill is black or just exposure (they were long shots)

Thanks for the quick reply JimBob. I wasn't sure about the second. We get a lot of Ring Billed in the winter, but haven't seen many yet, I think still migrants.

I agree with Bonaparte's and the others look like Ring-bills.
