Hi, I live just north of North Dakota, USA. The birds are starting to come to my feeders and I'd like to
ID one of them. It's tiny like a red breasted nuthatch and acts the same way. It has the stark black and
white of the chickadee, and from what I can see it has black across the back and entire head, I think, with white right across the front and almost to the shoulders. I'd like to ID it to make sure that I'm providing the right kind of food and feeders for it. Any help to ID this bird would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If its comings to your feeder, it's the right food for it. It wouldn't come otherwise! Agree, try white breasted nuthatch

Thank for, all, for your replies. In looking up what a white breasted nuthatch looked like, I came on a site that also showed bird species that were similar. One species is the black-capped chickadee and that's what is at my feeder. They love to eat black oil sunflower seeds, that's part of what I'm providing so I guess that's why it came. Does anyone know if they stay all winter? Thanks again.
